Hello friends, I hope you’ve been well. These past couple of weeks have been full of events and offerings celebrating ancestral connections. One personal experience was a tea ceremony with my mom to celebrate Undas (the Tagalog word for celebrations around All Saints Day and All Souls Day). There is a virtue in tea called “Jaku” - it’s a Japanese word which, according to Tea Medicine, is sometimes translated into “tranquility” although that is an incomplete translation. The spirit of Jaku can also be described as wholeness or completion. It is not always present in tea ceremony, but I definitely felt it in this one. The feeling was accompanied with so much love, gratitude, and connection to loved ones in spirit and with my mom. It was so beautiful and immersive I caught myself thinking that I never wanted it to end, but I reminded myself to come back to the present and really live it. It was such a simple and incredible experience that I’ll never forget. Below are this month’s events and offerings - perhaps I’ll see you at one! In December, I’ll be offering just a couple of public events. Winter is around the corner - and it’s a season for turning inward and sending our roots down into the ground to rest and restore our spirits. I fully intend to align with the season, I hope you do too. Love, Joycie
