Yoga Nidra, also known as Yogic sleep, is a restorative practice which may also help to access the unconscious mind and receive benefits of a deep sleep.

In this donation-based class, Joycie Weatherby will guide you from the awake state to the space beyond the mind.

While in this conscious rest state, the body can relax and reset the nervous system the same way it does during deep sleep. In this passive/active state, one may be able to access subconscious and repressed memories and experiences as well as create new patterns if they desire.

Some other notes about Yoga Nidra:

  • Although there is no real substitute for real sleep, some say just 30 minutes of this practice is equivalent to 4-hours of quality sleep.

  • In this deep state of relaxation, the pineal gland is activated and releases the hormone melatonin, which helps manage immune functions, blood pressure, cortisol levels, and restful sleep.
